As we all know, it is super important that we get an adequate amount of fluids every day (see post Staying Hydrated for more). I’d like to share with you some of my favorite drinks, both hot and cold, that I enjoy on a daily basis.
I do have quite the obsession with apple cider vinegar, and I make it a point to incorporate it into my diet every day. (see Apple Cider Vinegar for more). For a refreshing drink, add 1 T ACV to 16 oz water with 1/2 lemon squeezed, ice and frozen berries.
For when I’m craving chocolate and don’t have any on-hand, I make some hot cocoa with: 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 2 t of 100% cacao powder, 1 t ghee + a sprinkle of cinnamon. Heat up for 2 minutes and stir well! I can drink this before bed without a problem because it doesn’t affect my insulin levels, because there is no sugar added, just chocolatey goodness.
Smoothies are another drink that have been appearing more often in my diet. They are a great option for when I need to get my fruits + veggies in on a hectic day. Any combination of greens, berries, nut butter make for a delicious combination. (more recipes to come!)
I start every morning with bulletproof coffee: 10-12oz black coffee, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 tsp ghee, and sometimes brain octane, cinnamon or cocoa powder. Of course, my all-time favorite drink is Kombucha which I try to drink twice a week to promote gut health!
