A few months ago, I stumbled upon a company called Cleveland Kraut that makes a variety of flavored sauerkrauts that add a punch to dishes of all kinds. Saying I’m obsessed with their products is an understatement. They are incredibly passionate about their products and they are growing more popular by the day! Sauerkraut is a beneficial staple to add to the diet because it supports the growth of good bacteria in your gut. I’m learning more about gut health everyday and doing the best I can to eat foods that benefit my own microflora.
Here are a few of my favorite recipes that include sauerkraut:
Feeling Savory in the morning? Try my avocado gluten free toast topped with a hard boiled egg and Beet Red Kraut with a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
Hearty Kraut Bowl: 1/2 cup brown rice, 2 cups raw spinach, Roasted Turmeric Carrots, steamed broccoli, Gnar Gnar kraut, and ground chicken (see below for recipe).
Sauerkraut Chicken: 2 packs of ground chicken, 1/2 sweet onion, 1 diced tomato, seasoned with paprika, cayenne peppers, black pepper, turmeric, and salt to taste. I also added 3 T of Classic Caraway kraut to the mix after it finished cooking.
Roasted Veggie Sammy: 2 pieces of GF toast topped with 1/4 avocado on one side and 1/2 oz of goat cheese on the other, filled with roasted carrots, broccoli and Beet Red kraut. Pile that sandwich high with the veggies and your belly will be full for quite a while thanks to all that fiber.
