Happy New Year! I personally love the start of the new year because it gives us a wonderful opportunity to create goals to improve ourselves inside and out. For me, the holiday season is a time where temptation inevitably takes over and I know that I have eaten a few too many Christmas cookies and drank a few too many glasses of wine (personally I don’t believe in the phrase “too much wine.”) Since I have successfully fallen off the wagon, I have a new energy and excitement to get back to my healthy routine with my new goals in hand. I believe that New Year’s Resolutions should be created so that they are positive, achievable, and sustainable. I would like to share with you my own goals for 2016 which I have been thinking a lot about for the past couple weeks.

A hobby/activity I would like to try: Hiking and start a blog!

Setting a goal is a major step towards change. My goals revolve around developing a healthier balance in my life. I find it important to take time to not only take care of my body but my mind as well. For me, yoga is the medium I choose to reflect on my soul. Through poses and breathing I find calmness and realizations that I was too busy to see and feel in my daily life. I encourage you to find the time & a way to reflect on yourself, be it a few minutes a day or an hour a week. Find time to check in, it’s important.
Another point I’d like to touch on is self confidence and loving yourself. I find these to be crucial in a successful healthy lifestyle. Every day countless images of retouched, flawless people are thrown in our faces on all forms of social media. This can make it very difficult to look in the mirror, when it shouldn’t. You should never feel that you are not good enough, because you are always more than enough. Consistently reminding yourself of your worth will give you the confidence to accomplish whatever your heart desires. Improving your lifestyle or changing your attitude should be done in order to positively influence your health. There are many other benefits that you will find along the way like better sleep, weight loss, less pain, clearer focus, more energy, confidence, etc.
A healthy person is a happy person. Healthy is beautiful.
